Atlante dei territori del vino italiani

Geografia e Vino si ritrovano per la prima volta in un’opera completa sul panorama vitivinicolo in Italia che documenta la complessa e affascinante storia e attualità di prodotti che portano alto il nome della nostra nazione nel Mondo.

L’Atlante dei territori del vino italianipresentato da poco più di un mese a Roma presso la Salaatlantevinicopertina Cavour del Palazzo dell’Agricoltura. Il lettore – che sia o meno esperto del settore – si appassionerà sfogliando i due volumi che compongono l’opera; l’Atlante è costituito infatti da due volumi che contano quasi 900 pagine. L’Atlante dei territori del vino italiani è un’iniziativa editoriale promossa dal Ministero delle Politiche agricole alimentari e forestali con la collaborazione di Enoteca Italiana, e indubbiamente è definibile un’ “opera omnia” visto che tocca numerosi temi connessi vino e tutti legati da un filo conduttore: la geografia.

A proposito della geografia è inevitabile dare risalto alla collaborazione instaurata con lIstituto Geografico Militare  che ha contribuito con il proprio repertorio cartografico a costruire territorio per territorio il paesaggio tipico della vitivinicoltura. Per ogni territorio sono state riportate nel volume le schede descrittive relative a :

– notazioni riguardanti suolo, clima e ambiente;                                                                                                           – il percorso storico.culturale che ha portato nei secoli ai paesaggi agricoli e ai vini che conosciamo oggi;     – tipo di vitigni utilizzati e le loro caratteristiche;                                                                                                       – varietà di vini prodotti con le relative denominazioni d’origine.

Cosa rende questo Atlante speciale? Chi non è esperto di vini forse non sa che ogni vitigno è tipico di un territorio, e anche chi lo sa probabilmente trascura ciò che rende particolare un vino rispetto ad un altro.  Quelle che sono le caratteristiche organolettiche che rendono unico un vino e che non consentono – fortunatamente – di surrogarlo altrove, sono dovute a condizioni climatiche, al tipo di territorio in cui la vite cresce e a tanti altri aspetti che scoprirete in questo Atlante;  i ricercatori del Consiglio per la Ricerca e la sperimentazione in Agricoltura, (Unità di ricerca per la Viticoltura di Arezzo, il Centro di ricerca per la Viticoltura di Conegliano Veneto e Centro di Ricerca per l’Agrobiologia e la Pedologia di Firenze) hanno contribuito con la propria esperienza e professionalità a dettagliare questi aspetti e renderli fruibili per far comprendere ad un pubblico vasto quanto la geografia influenzi un prodotto che nasce dalla terra.

È indiscusso quanto ha dichiarato, durante la presentazione ufficiale dell’Atlante, Fabio Carlesi, segretario generale di Enoteca Italiana«E un’opera rivoluzionaria, innovativa e coraggiosa che consente di rappresentare l’Italia del vino sotto diversi aspetti».

Il Ministro delle Politiche agricole alimentari e forestali Nunzia De Girolamo aggiunge: «Dobbiamo fareMin-De-Girolamo-Atlante-vini-primo-piano-def della storia recente del vino italiano una parabola per il Paese e per la politica. Siamo partiti dallo scandalo del metanolo, che ci ha fatto toccare il punto più basso con danni gravissimi sia in termini economici che di immagine, ma siamo riusciti a ribaltare il dato, a capovolgere la situazione sino a far diventare il vino una eccellenza assoluta del Made in Italy e sono certa che questo Atlante avrà un grande successo».

Indubbia l’emozione di vedere quanto sia ricco e variegato il patrimonio italiano del vino e letteralmente “viaggiare” sfogliando questo Atlante dove ogni capitolo tratta una delle nostre regioni, offrendo una panoramica su 92 macroaree vitivinicole individuate. Diamo i “numeri” per avere un’idea della consistenza di questo Atlante:

  • 227 carte complessive relative a cartografia e immagini dell’IGM , di cui 20  regionali prospettiche, 20 regionali introduttive, 140 per le 92 aree individuate, 47 aree a Docg, 29 ortofoto (foto aeree georefenziate)
  • 232 carte complessive relative a cartografia, le tabelle e le schede pedologiche del CRA ABP Firenze di cui: 20 regionali dei distretti di terre viticole, 92 delle macroaree, 120 climatiche (6 per ciascuna regione). Centoventinove tabelle relative alle caratteristiche di alcuni suoli. Venti schede pedologiche di suoli rappresentativi regionali.
  • 317  foto di paesaggi e vitigni
  • Tabelle economiche relative al sistema produttivo delle singole regioni e di 33 macroaree scelte
  • Tabelle relative alle Dop e Igp

L’Atlante dei territori del vino italiani sarà sicuramente un illustre  biglietto da visita per aprirsi al mercato mondiale, innanzi tutto per la qualità formale dell’opera e poi per la sua originalità. La consistenza dell’opera è pari alla qualità dei contenuti: ogni descrizione è chiara e comprensibile anche per chi voglia per la prima volta “assaggiare” i vini italiani in maniera alternativa ai tradizionali calici!

Geography and wine meet for the first time in a complete work on the wine scene in Italy documenting the complex and fascinating history and current products that bring up the name of our nation in the World.

  – notations on soil, climate and environment                                                                                                                  –  the historic and cultural path that led over the centuries to agricultural landscapes and to the wines we know today                                                                                                                                                                              – the type of grapes used and their characteristics;                                                                                                      – variety of wines produced with their designations ‘origin.

What makes this special atlas? Anyone who is not a wine expert may not know that each vine is typical of an area, and also who knows probably overlook what makes a particular wine over another. Those are the organoleptic characteristics that make it unique and a wine that does not allow – fortunately – of surrogarlo elsewhere, are due to climatic conditions, the type of area in which the vines grow, and many other aspects that you will discover in this Atlas; researchers Council for Research and Experimentation in Agriculture Research Unit for Viticulture in Arezzo , the Research Centre for Viticulture of Conegliano Veneto  and Research Centre for Agrobiology and Pedology of Florence ) contributed with its experience and professionalism in detail these aspects and make them usable to a wide audience to understand how geography influences a product that comes from the earth.

A total of 227 papers related to cartography and images of the IGM , including 20 regional perspective, 20 regional Introductory, 140 for the 92 areas identified, 47 DOCG areas, 29 orthophotos (aerial photos)

 The Atlas of the territories of Italian wine is sure to be a prominent business card to open up to the world market, first of all for the formal quality of the work and then for its originality. The consistency of the work is equal to the quality of the content: each description is clear and understandable even for those craving for the first time “taste” Italian wines in an alternative to traditional wine glasses!
